Zinke Wines makes unapologetic, site-specific wines that represent the land they come from. Owner and winemaker Michael Zinke is more interested in the source than simply the end of the line— his passion stems from the vine itself, the earth it comes from, and the fruit it produces. Working with the Grand Crus of California’s Central Coast, he picks at optimal ripeness and hand sorts the fruit without additives, colorings, or general bullshit. Small lot, whole cluster fermentation, co-ferments, and finding the proper balance of oak and time are all part of the formula. The other part? Passion, love, authenticity, and the pursuit of the impossible—perfection.

The 2017 Central Coast Syrah is an easy drinking Syrah with bright red fruit on the nose followed by subtle baking spices and a pop of chocolate covered mint. Savor the soft mouthfeel, medium tannins, and bright acid, which showcase barely ripe blackberries, vanilla, pepper, and cloves. Versatile enough to chill down on a hot summer day, or enjoy fireside in the cold winter months.
