Le Chat Noir , or The Black Cat, was a nineteenth-century entertainment establishment in Paris. It is thought to be the first modern cabaret. The acts were introduced by a master of ceremonies who interacted with well-known patrons at the tables. This iconic poster art is best known as it was advertising a tour to other cities of the Le Chat Noir's troupe of cabaret entertainers.
