Product Description

Since its premier vintage of Pinot Noir in 2001, the Duckhorn's Migration wine program has earned acclaim for a refined and compelling style of winemaking that seamlessly balances vibrancy and finesse. Migration’s exploration of the great Burgundian varietals began in the Anderson Valley, where Duckhorn cultivates four estate Pinot Noir vineyards, spanning more than 200 vine acres. Shaped by the valley’s cool nights, fog-shrouded mornings and mild, sunny afternoons, this world-class fruit established Migration’s stylistic identity—producing sophisticated wines with abundant fruit and bright acidity.

Guided by winemaker Dana Epperson—a cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay specialist— Migration has taken flight, going beyond its original boundaries to explore Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from several of California’s finest cool-climate appellations. This includes working with such renowned vineyards as Dierberg and Bien Nacido in the Santa Maria Valley, Charles Heintz Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast, and Drum Canyon Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills. It has also found a stylistic home among the great vineyards of the Russian River Valley, where Migration has established its own Running Creek Vineyard, which features 70 acres of Pinot Noir and 20 acres of Chardonnay. From this exceptional site, and other acclaimed properties, including Dutton Ranch, Migration makes its flagship Russian River Valley wines.

The complex and fascinating 2015 Migration Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard combines lovely fruit with savory Santa Maria Valley spice notes of chaparral and white pepper. On the palate, raspberry and pomegranate flavors are accentuated by a lively acid profile, with hints of cedar, graphite and toasty oak adding depth and nuance to the finish.

Established in 1973, Bien Nacido has earned a reputation as one of California’s premier vineyards. Planted in the low-vigor soils of the Santa Maria Valley, the vines face the full force of the wind and fog off the Pacific. The result is a Pinot Noir that balances richness and elegance, with blackberry and ripe strawberry flavors underscored by enlivening acidity and notes of green tea and spice.

The lush and inviting 2015 Migration Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Running Creek Vineyard begins with aromas of wild strawberry, brambleberry and just a hint of freshly baked bread. Supple and generous on the palate, it offers wonderful fruit concentration, with layers of raspberry and blueberry, as well as flavors of moist earth and spice.

Highlighting layered flavors, bright acidity, and impeccably balanced French oak, this wine is a selection of the best blocks and barrels of wine from the exceptional Russian River Valley. Though rich and supple, with alluring flavors of blackberry and Bing cherry, it is also a beautifully complex, terroir-driven wine.

A beautiful expression of cool-climate Pinot Noir, this 2015 Migration Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir Drum Canyon Vineyard is an intensely aromatic wine offering aromas of wildflowers, red berries, and spice. Poised and well-structured, layers of ripe cherry and blackberry glide across the palate before drawing to a long, mineral-driven finish.

Planted in 2003, and farmed by the Dierberg family, Drum Canyon Vineyard is located on the eastern edge of the famed Sta. Rita Hills winegrowing region, where cool, coastal breezes help to produce a beautifully structured Pinot Noir, with velvety tannins and pure notes of pomegranate, dark cherry and clove.
