1935 A $1 Silver Certificate Experimental "S" Note 65 EPQ Gem Uncirculated // #862
Product Description
Being offered today is a very rare $1 Dollar 1934 “A” series Silver Certificate “EXPERIMENTAL “S” Note. The note is graded in PMG 65 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality) and carries an additional grading of Gem Uncirculated. The Gem Uncirculated designation shows that the note looks like it was just printed.
The test of the “R” and “S” currency was to help in the World War II effort to conserve resources. An “R” note was printed with regular paper. The “S” note presented here was printed using special paper. A large red “S” in the lower right corner distinguished notes printed using this special paper.
This specific series represents the only experimental Silver Certificates printed in this unique fashion. With quantities printed of 1,184,000, the “S” series were released June 20, 1944 and issued into circulation to test their comparative disabilities. These experimental notes make up less than 1% of all 1935A notes and survivors are considered scarce.
It is extremely rare to find a “S” Experimental note in this high PMG 65 Grade. The note is centered perfectly, and the ink just pops off the note. The colors are bright and bold. The note offered here has fantastic eye appeal. The note shows no sign of wear on the corners or the sides. All of the corners and edges of the notes are crisp and clean. There are no pinholes, rips, stains, or tears. Each note will be encased in a long-term preservation holder to enhance the presentation and protect against counterfeiting and tampering. The note pictured are the notes you will receive.
