1928 G $2 Legal Tender 2 Consecutive PCGS 65 // # 714 - 715

Being offered today is a very rare pair of 2 consecutive 1928 “G” $2 Dollar series Legal Tender Notes. Both notes are graded in PCGS 65 Gem New PPQ (Premium Paper Quality). The Gem New designation shows that the notes looks like they were just printed. This grading is the highest you can get under the PCGS guidelines for a 65 grade.

A Legal Tender Note is designated by the Red Seal on the left center of the note. The notes are centered very well, and the ink just pops off the notes. The colors are bright and bold with fantastic eye appeal. The notes show no sign of wear on the corners or the sides. All of the corners and edges of the notes are crisp and clean. There are no pinholes, rips, stains, or tears. The notes pictured are the notes you will receive.

The 1928 $2 dollar Legal Tender has 8 different notes in the series. They start at 1928 and then go from 1928 “A” to 1928 “G”. The reason for the different types of notes is that when the “Treasurer of the United States” or the “Secretary of the Treasury” changes, by law they must print notes bearing their name. That is how the “A” through “G” series works, or any other dated currency with multiple lettering in the series. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing or BEP will print hundreds of millions of “backs” of notes for a series. Then print a set number of “fronts” of the notes as needed for the series with the correct Treasurer of The United States or Secretary of The Treasury. You can locate their signatures on the bottom left side and bottom right side of the front of the note. The signatures on these notes are Clark on the left and Snyder on the right. A lot of collectors will collect the entire series in a designated note, which adds to the fun of collecting currency as there are many options.
