First Jewish War. Jewish Revolt Against Rome, 66-70 CE Bronze prutah. Dated year 2 (67/68 CE) Two handled amphora, ancient Hebrew inscription "Year Two" / Grape leaf on small vine, "The Freedom of Zion" in Hebrew. Dark olive green patina with Holy Land earthen highlights. Encapsulated and certified Very Fine by NGC. An excellent specimen!

This coin was minted and circulated during the time of Josephus, the Jewish War and the standoff at Masada. Although this coin was found elsewhere in Israel, these very same types of coins have been excavated atop the mountaintop fortress of Masada, and have earned the name "Masada coins".
