Product Description
A neat Spanish Colonial wood santos from Guatemala, circa 17th-19th century AD. Depicting Saint Peter, wearing long full-length robes and headgear engraved with a cross. Most likely an alter-piece, this was somewhat crudely carved but likely was originally accompanied by a row of similarly-styled saints. Traces of the original polychrome white and red painted details still visible. H: 10.5". Ex New York City private collection. Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
