Product Description

A very nice Holy Land Roman glass "tear vial" bottle, 1st – 2nd Century AD. A blue glass unguentarium, the piriform body with rounded base, long cylindrical neck with constricted base, the mouth flared with inward folded rim. When a person died in ancient Judaea, mourners would leave a glass vial filled with their tears in their loved one's tomb. Nice light blue color with light deposits and iridescence. H: 3.5”. Intact and near perfectly preserved! Found in Israel.
