Product Description
Ancient Canaanite, Holy Land. Time of Egypt's Second Intermediate Period, 1786-1567 BC. Fantastic steatite scarab, made by the Caananites in Egyptian style at the time. The base is engraved with an Egyptian scarab (‘kheper’) at top center, with lotus design below, and various hieroglyphics around; the top and legs nicely carved. Intact, with excellent surfaces. The scarab was a sacred symbol that represented eternal life and rebirth to the ancient Egyptians.
